Our client is a globally expanding pharmaceutical company with a strong footprint in Europe. Operating in a niche and highly specialised area of the pharmaceutical industry, the company develops and distributes products used in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic settings.
With a long-standing presence and strong operations across Europe, the company is undergoing a dynamic transformation. As part of its continued growth in a niche and mission-critical market, the company is now seeking to appoint a Sales Director for Eastern Europe to strengthen its regional leadership and commercial presence.
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Reporting directly to the General Manager Eastern Europe, the Sales Director will play a key role in managing distributor relationships within a complex and evolving market. Based anywhere in Eastern Europe, the successful candidate will work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Legal leadership teams and enjoy strong internal visibility and influence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Commercial Strategy
Achieve annual sales targets across the assigned territory and designated portfolio of existing or new clients
Lead pricing negotiations to secure optimal deals in line with the company’s pricing policy
Maintain a strong clinical and technical understanding of the product portfolio to support customer engagement
Monitor business performance and proactively address gaps to ensure financial KPIs are consistently met
Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow sales and market share
Ensure deep understanding of local market dynamics, customer needs, and the competitive landscape in each key market
Contribute to market intelligence, gathering insights on pricing trends, competitor activity, and market evolution
Identify and convert opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling, both within the existing distributor network and with new prospects
Distributor & Partner Management
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with distributors and strategic partners
Track partner activities and customer data to respond effectively to evolving needs
Ensure contract quality, accuracy, and compliance in coordination with the Legal team
Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to ensure product availability and timely delivery
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Ensure full compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements
Act as the regional contact for reporting pharmacovigilance matters and adverse product events, ensuring timely notification to the relevant authorities
Support regulatory and market access efforts, particularly around reimbursement, licensing, and compliance in priority markets such as Greece, Hungary, and Czechia
Represent the company professionally in all internal and external stakeholder communications across the region
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years of sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry; experience in Oncology is a strong advantage
Proven track record in managing distributor networks and delivering sustained sales growth across Eastern European markets
In-depth understanding of healthcare systems, market access pathways, reimbursement systems, licensing, and regulatory frameworks,particularly in Greece, Hungary, and Czechia
Demonstrated strategic thinking and market development experience in complex, multi-country environments
High level of commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to engage with C-suite stakeholders
Fluent English is essential; proficiency in additional Eastern European languages such as Romanian, Bulgarian, or Greek is a plus
Strong leadership presence and influencing skills across cross-functional and multicultural teams

Strong commitment to sales excellence and consistent achievement of business goals
High level of business acumen and a proactive, hands-on approach
