Head of Raw Material Supply

The company manufactures a broad portfolio of products, including MDF, particleboard, laminate flooring and other value-added wood products, serving customers across the construction, furniture and interior design industries.

With a strong international footprint and a continued focus on innovation, sustainability, operational excellence and advanced manufacturing technologies, the company operates multiple production facilities and employs a large international workforce.

As part of its continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Head of Raw Material Supply to lead and develop its raw material procurement and supply function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and coordinate all activities related to the procurement and supply of raw materials required for the company's production operations.

• Develop and implement the raw material procurement strategy in line with production requirements and the company's overall business objectives.

• Develop procurement plans for the different categories and types of raw materials required by the business.

• Coordinate and manage the company's participation in tenders organised by State Forestry Enterprises, Forest and Hunting Farms, and other relevant organisations for the supply of raw materials.

• Develop and maintain the company's strategy and approach towards key raw material suppliers.

• Manage and continuously develop the supplier database, including supplier classification and performance monitoring.

• Lead the development of appropriate inventory standards for production materials and ensure that stock levels are effectively managed in line with operational requirements.

• Initiate and coordinate amendments to supplier agreements and contracts in response to changing production and business requirements.

• Establish and maintain efficient systems for the storage and management of timber and other raw materials across the company's warehouse and storage facilities.

• Develop and implement the company's strategy relating to timber harvesting and the procurement of timber resources.

• Lead, manage and develop the employees and workforce within the Raw Material Supply function, ensuring effective performance and resource utilisation.

• Ensure compliance with the company's internal policies, procedures and labour regulations.

• Identify and escalate cases of operational or financial liability and make recommendations regarding appropriate actions where company assets or interests have been compromised.

• Ensure that the company's Quality Policy is understood and effectively implemented within the Raw Material Supply function.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable quality, occupational health and safety, environmental and operational procedures.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities relevant to the position as reasonably assigned by the Executive Director.

Quality, Health & Safety and Management Systems

The successful candidate will be expected to understand and comply with all relevant company policies, procedures and management systems, including:

• Quality Policy and associated procedures;

• Occupational Health and Safety Policy;

• Workplace health and safety procedures and instructions;

• Quality Management System procedures;

• Occupational Health and Safety Management System requirements; and

• Other applicable internal policies, procedures and operational standards.

Authority and Decision-Making

• Make decisions relating to activities and operations falling within the scope of responsibility of the Raw Material Supply function.

• Exercise delegated authority in accordance with the responsibilities and limits established by the Executive Director.

• Ensure that decisions and activities are conducted in compliance with applicable legislation and company policies.

• Refuse or escalate any instruction that would conflict with applicable legislation or occupational health and safety requirements.

• Exercise all rights and responsibilities provided under applicable labour legislation and, where relevant, the Collective Labour Agreement.

Reporting & Organisational Relationships

The Head of Raw Material Supply will report directly to the Procurator and will work closely with managers and senior stakeholders across other functions and departments.

The role will also involve regular interaction with external organisations and institutions, including relevant forestry authorities, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders, as required to effectively manage the company's raw material supply activities.
